A Yoga and Climbing Workshop

At Mesa Rim Climbing and Fitness in Mira Mesa

A special yoga & climbing workshop with Sarah Haughton and Jessica Olson that connects the dots between a yoga practice that cultivates flexible and strong hips, to teaching climbing training skills that enhance high stepping movements on the wall. One hour of yoga, one hour of climbing, students will leave this workshop with the tools needed to care for their hips, improve strength and flexibility while gaining solid techniques for immediate use on the wall to improve their climbing.

Yoga for Chronic Pain

When you’re in chronic pain, it is difficult to imagine that there will an end to your pain. It is a challenge to function in your day to day life, and it is easy to slip into bad habit and depression.

This workshop will teach you a variety of meditation, posture and breathing techniques that will aid in your healing from chronic pain.

What I LOVE the most about practicing Sridaiva Yoga is that I am in the consistent practice of encouraging and discovering my body’s most natural desires to be curvy, strong and open, while equally in control and playful. No longer does my yoga practice feel like a laundry list of tendencies that I need to correct. Although I still incorporate many great methodologies from my Anusara and Power Yoga background, my love of Sridaiva is so strong that I must continue to share it with everyone I meet!

This 2-day Intensive with me, Sarah Haughton, is creatively designed to help all levels of students deepen their understanding and embodiment of Sridaiva’s bow-spring alignment in the dynamic posture of one’s daily life for higher levels of health, harmony, and happiness.

Each student will gain:

  • Greater understanding of the Sridaiva bow-spring alignment
  • How to use the bow-spring for your specific needs safely
  • Expanded awareness of personal postural patterns
  • Greater capacity for self-respect and self-love
  • Greater sense of supportive Sridaiva-loving community in San Diego

The bow-spring practice will help make a significant transformation in the shape and energetic alignment of their body within the 2 days of the Intensive. Continued practice of the bow-spring provides heightened control of the myofascia of the back body; stronger and more mounded gluteus maximus; stronger and more open pelvic floor; stronger and longer belly; and overall healthier, curvier dynamic posture.

These workshops will clarify how to safely strengthen and increase flexibility in the darker areas of the body, known as the posterior chain (neck, shoulders, back, hips, gluteus, hamstrings, calves), while encouraging natural curvature in the spine for maximum power and lightness.Many of us relate most easily to what we see in front of us, so it can be challenging to ask our back side to engage and support us physically and mentally. You could be missing is the freedom of feeling light and free in your body.

Sridaiva Yoga will allow to to feel more powerful in any activity by teaching how to build relationship with your back side in order to feel light in your own form, while generating flexibility in even the deepest and most stubborn places in your body.

The Roots with Sarah Haughton

THE ROOTS:
This workshop will offer deep growth in yoga practitioners of all levels. The Roots is a set sequence derived from Sridaiva Yoga by Desi Springer and John Friend and emphasizes strength and power in the back body with natural curvature in the spine. This intuitive and empowering practice is highly therapeutic. Luke has spent numerous hours with John in the healing of a slipped disc in his low back, and has had rapid results in healing.
The Roots sequence is comprised of 8 set of 108 poses, which can be performed in 90 minutes.  The sequence is composed of 54 base poses- in 7 base sets plus 54 advanced poses, including the Kali Roots advanced set.
